Allowing data to be exported from the portal does come with some risk. The most significant being that outdated information could be used for decisions and decisions could be based on data being edited and manipulated inappropriately. However, given this caveat it is normal not to prevent export, but rather facilitate it with the objective that it will be more beneficial to tap the creativity engendered by personal access to the rich business data. In order to capture this creativity for the benefit of the corporation it is necessary to identify the spreadsheet calculations in use, and transpose them into calculated measures that replicate the individual analysis to the OLAP cube. Once accomplished, this previously individual analysis would then be available as portal reports which remain connected to the active data source benefiting both the originator and all other users
