A report subscription can be set up to deliver a report to a Windows File share, email the report, or send the report to a SharePoint document library. These reports can be created in a variety of formats as well (Excel, PDF, Word, csv, etc.). They can be set up to use a shared schedule, an individual schedule or sent when a report snapshot is created. A user must have the Create Alerts permission on the library that contains the report. Reporting Services also allows you to create data driven report subscriptions that can send a report using data from a query with filtered results sent to specific users. For example, in a Media BI system you could create a report that shows the campaign information by Agency and each Agency would receive an email with only the data specific to their campaign(s).
