This latest market release of SQL Server provided all SQL users with new functionality but was really geared towards BI users. Some of the general features that benefit all SQL users include extended T-SQL programmability, support for more than 64 cores, Unicode compression, enhanced server management, master data management, complex streaming event processing, and overall tighter integration with other core Microsoft products like SharePoint, Reporting Services, etc.
Some of the more exciting features released, especially for those in the Business Intelligence world, include PowerPivot, a self-service BI tool that allows users to manipulate and model millions of rows of data in an excel workbook from a cube or database with minimal effort. This powerful BI tool integrates with Office 2010 and SharePoint Server 11 to give data savvy analysts a powerful tool for analyzing large amounts of data. Visual enhancements to Reporting Services such as gauges, sparklines, data bars, status indicators, and geospatial mapping capability were introduced to provide a more visually rich reporting experience. Finally, two new enterprise platforms geared towards data warehousing were created, specifically the parallel data warehouse version to offer a solution to poor data warehouse performance.
BIAnalytix
is an enterprise class BI system that stays on the leading edge of BI technology to provide high performance BI Solutions.
