Scorecards are used at the strategic level in businesses. They often use KPIs or composition of KPIs that summarize the overall health and performance of the business and indicate at a glance the positive and negative trends of the KPIs.
Dashboards tend to be one level below Scorecards and are often tied to specific operational objectives (rather than strategic objectives). They are often created to be specific to a division or department and may be composed of different measures that are specific to the operational performance of that business unit (Sales, Accounting etc.). The Decentrix BIAnalytix model supports responsive and personalized graphical business presentations using web part galleries within the portal.
At next level below Dashboards we see traditional analysis and reporting. In its simplest form this may simply consist of tables of data such as inventory by time. In its more sophisticated form with BIAnalytix it allows drill down through the data with graphical presentation such as line graphs, bar charts and pie diagrams. Cube, dimension, and measure level data security restricts data access regardless of the analysis tool.
A universal intranet provides a Portal to access the data in detailed and summary form across the organization. User logins allow secure access only to the customized views and dashboards that are relevant to the individual requesting it. Access to the intranet Portal is transparent and available through browser access from across the organization.
